Terms of Use

These are the rules of the road for using Sober Squad. They're written in plain English because you should be able to read them. The short version: respect each other, keep your squad safe, and remember the App is a companion to your recovery — not a replacement for medical care.

01Acceptance of terms

By downloading, installing, or using Sober Squad (the "App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use ("Terms") and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

These Terms are a binding agreement between you and Dreamseeds ("we", "us"), the developer of Sober Squad.

02The service

Sober Squad is a peer-support iOS app for people in recovery. It lets you build local "squads" of sober friends, track sobriety milestones, host events, and complete shared fitness challenges through Apple Health. The App is not a treatment program, a substitute for professional care, or a clinical product.

03Account & eligibility

You must be at least 17 years old to use Sober Squad.
You're responsible for what happens through your account, including content you post and members you invite.
You agree to provide accurate information and to keep your device secure.
You may not let anyone else use your account, and you may not impersonate someone else.

04Subscriptions & payments

Sober Squad is free to download. Optional Squad+ Premium subscription plans are available within the App and unlock features like additional squads, larger squad sizes, multiple concurrent ring challenges, Apple Watch complications, and advanced HealthKit challenges.

Billing

All purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. Payment is charged to your Apple ID.
Subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends.
Your subscription renews at the price disclosed in the App at the time of purchase. We may run promotions or change pricing for new subscribers; existing subscribers will be notified of any change that affects them.
Free trials (when offered) convert to a paid subscription unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the trial ends.

Managing or cancelling

Manage your subscription in iOS Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions.
Refund requests go through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. We do not process refunds directly.
If you cancel, you keep premium features through the end of the current period.

Lifetime purchase

A one-time "lifetime" purchase grants you access to Squad+ Premium features for as long as Sober Squad is operated by Dreamseeds and continues to be available on the App Store. "Lifetime" does not mean perpetuity beyond the App's operational life.

05Acceptable use

When using Sober Squad, you agree not to:

Harass, threaten, dox, or abuse other members of your squad or anyone else.
Use the App to sell, promote, or distribute alcohol, controlled substances, or paraphernalia.
Post content that is illegal, hateful, sexually explicit, or that exploits any minor.
Share another person's private information (including their sobriety, recovery program, or health) without their explicit consent.
Use the App to provide medical advice or hold yourself out as a clinician unless you actually are one.
Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the App.
Use the App to violate any law or any third party's rights.
Spam, phish, or run automated scripts against the App or its services.

We reserve the right to remove content and suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules, with or without notice.

06Health disclaimer

Sober Squad is not medical advice.

The App is a peer-support and self-tracking tool. It is not a medical device, a treatment program, or a substitute for professional medical, psychological, or psychiatric care. Sobriety dates, milestones, ring challenges, and any health-related content shown in the App are for informational and motivational purposes only.

Always consult a licensed healthcare provider before starting, stopping, or changing any treatment, medication, or recovery program. If you are unsure whether an activity is safe for you, ask a doctor first.

In crisis?

If you are in immediate danger, considering harming yourself, or experiencing a medical emergency, call your local emergency services right away. In the US, you can also call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or call 1-800-662-4357 (SAMHSA's National Helpline, 24/7, free, confidential).

07Intellectual property

The Sober Squad name, logo, app design, code, copy, and visual identity are owned by Dreamseeds and protected by copyright and trademark law. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial use on Apple devices you own or control, subject to these Terms.

08Your content

You own the content you post in your squads — messages, milestones, photos, events. By posting content into Sober Squad, you grant us a limited license to display that content to the members of your squads and to operate the App (for example, to deliver a milestone post via push notification).

You are responsible for the content you post. Do not post anything you don't have the right to share, and do not share other people's private recovery information without their consent.

09Disclaimer of warranties

The App is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and any warranty arising from course of dealing or trade usage. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that any data (including squad chat or milestones) will be preserved without loss.

10Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event will Dreamseeds, its principals, employees, or contractors be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising from your use of the App. Our total liability to you for all claims arising out of or relating to the App is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the App in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) US $50.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages. In those jurisdictions, the limitations above apply only to the extent permitted by law.

11Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Dreamseeds from any claims, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to your use of the App, your content, or your violation of these Terms.

12Termination

You can stop using Sober Squad at any time. Delete your account in Settings → Account → Delete Account, or simply uninstall the App.

We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, if we are required to by law, or if we discontinue the App. On termination, all licenses granted to you under these Terms end, and the provisions that by their nature should survive (e.g., disclaimers, liability limits) will survive.

13Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to its conflict of laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the App will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in San Francisco County, California, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there. Nothing in this section prevents either party from seeking injunctive relief in any court of competent jurisdiction.

14Changes to terms

We may update these Terms as the App evolves. When we make material changes, we will update the "Effective" date above and notify you inside the App. Continued use of Sober Squad after a change indicates acceptance of the updated Terms.
